My healthy lifestyle journey started about 10 years ago. I moved to New Orleans to live closer to my sister and nephew. I began bartending on Bourbon Street to put myself through hair school. Between the long hours, junk bar food, no exercising and my love for margaritas and cosmopolitans...I gained 35 lbs. Although that may not seem like a ton of weight, I gained it all in my belly. I was always tired, I had no energy and I hated how I looked. It was even beginning to affect my attitude towards other people because I just didn't feel good and was very unhappy. I decided one day to go to the gym with a friend of mine. That's all it took and I was hooked. I began working out regularly, eating better and feeling great!
I moved back to Alabama in 2008. In 2010, I competed in my first NPC Bodybuilding Competition in the bikini division. Then I continued to compete in 2011-2014. Even though I have decided to take some time off from competing at this point in my life, I will continue my healthy lifestyle. I've had lots of people over the years ask me for recipe ideas or ask me what I eat. I decided to change my focus to helping people through my passion for healthy cooking. I've always loved experimenting in the kitchen, so I'm excited to share some of my "experiments" with other people.
